1950s Double XL Steel Architects Plan Chest from Chilford Hall Vineyard in Cambridgeshire, where it has resided for decades in one of the side buildings to store art, plans and prints.
This is definately one for the patina lovers out there! We have deep cleaned this plan chest giving it a full Cambrewood service, leaving all the charm and character fully preserved and totally original.
The drawers run fairly smoothly – remembering it is around 70 years old and vintage steel on steel, but it has been lighly oiled so is easy enough to work with.
We have supplied these to Film and TV Prop Companies in the past and have always loved the charachter of the original finish when preserving the paint and patina.
A piece like this will add some serious vintage charm to your home or study or in commercial settings and shop display.
This splits into two parts with 5 drawers to each and even when split is extremely heavy.
